The offer of things to do in the city is so wide, that is not easy to know where to start. If you have just arrived in the city, we have prepared for you this guide of some must do things in Barcelona, in case you are staying just a few days
THE GAUDI ROUTE.
Certainly, the signature of the city is the maximum representative of Catalan modernism architecture, Antoni Gaudi. La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are his three most beautiful works. We recommend you walk to from Plaça Catalunya towards the west throught Passeig de Gracia to visit the last two. Once you reach La Pedrera, you can get Metro line 4 to head to the temple.
LAS RAMBLAS
The ramblas are a boulevard connecting Plaça Catalunya in the heart of the city, with the old port, where is located the Christopher Columbus Monument inaugurated in 1888. The promenade is 1.2 km long and is lively at all hours. The highlights of this walk are the Liceu Theater and the Bruno Cuadros House at either side of the road, as well as the numerous flower stalls and street artists (mainly painters and living statues).
THE MERCAT DE LA BOQUERÍA
Halfway between the main square and the port is the most emblematic market of the city, the Sant Josep Market, better known as La Boqueria. Although it is considered a tourist attraction, it is basically a food market, and stands out for the variety and great quality of the products it offers. Do not miss trying some of their exquisite products.
THE PARC GÜELL
Another masterpiece by Gaudi. Created in the early twentieth century, it is located in the highest part of the city, and coincides with the period of the architect's apogee, when he started looking for inspiration within the forms of nature. According to some voices, Gaudi and Güell (the businessman who commissioned the construction of the park) were inspired by the Apollo temple of Delphi for its conception.
ICEBARCELONA
Yes! The first ice bar in the world located steps away from the beach. Your visit to Barcelona is not complete if you don’t step on the sand. You can simply come during daytime and enjoy a cocktail on its sunny terrace, or live the whole ice bar experience, squeezing into a furry coat and wearing gloves to drink a glass of ice at below zero.
